Jay Gatliff, Owner of Patriot Heating and Cooling, began his career as an HVAC Service Technician over fifteen years ago with a large HVAC company that was based out of Winchester, Virginia. In his role, he serviced residential home heating and air conditioning systems as well as commercial buildings within the Shenandoah Valley. He completed schooling for HVAC at Lord Fairfax Community College and earned 4 different North American Technician Excellence Certifications. During his 11 years with his first company of employment, Jay also served in the Virginia Army National Guard from 2006 to 2014 as a Military Police Officer.
While in the Guard, Jay participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Combining his HVAC and Military experience, Jay went to work for the Department of Defense in 2015 at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, VA as an HVAC Mechanic. His daily work duties included making sure the bases large chillers and steam boiler systems remained operational, as well as maintaining mission critical HVAC units for server rooms. While at JBMHH, Jay received the Department of the Army Commanders Award for Civilian Service.
Though his love for the U.S. Military made it hard to leave his DOD position, he felt he could best serve himself and his community by coming back to the Shenandoah Valley to work. After obtaining his Master HVAC license for the state of Virginia, he established Patriot Heating and Cooling in July of 2017.
